    My Week in Running: 12/25/11 - 12/31/11

    12/27: 5 miles in 52:14 in neighborhood with an average pace of 10:26 min/mi. Ran this one early in the morning. Speed wasn’t there.

    12/27: 1.75 miles in 16:10 in neighborhood with an average pace of 9:18 min/mi. Pushed Oliver in his stroller.

    12/28: 3 miles in 29:15 on I45 feeder with an average pace of 9:47 min/mi. Elevation gain of 69 feet. HSP was closed for organized hunts.

    12/30: 3.25 miles in 27:57 in neighborhood with an average pace of 8:25 min/mi. Ran with Tony.

    12/31: 5 miles in 45:53 in neighborhood with an average pace of 9:04 min/mi. Ran this with Tony. We did some fartlek.

    My Week in Running: 12/11/11 - 12/17/11

    It’s only now that I’ve begun to get the time to step up my mileage a little. Still not where I want it to be.

    12/11: 10.25 miles in 1:42:40. The average pace was 10:04 min/mi and elevation gain was a mere 78 feet. This was a long run with an honest pace.

    12/12: 2.75 miles in 26:59. Average pace was 9:54 min/mi. Ran this pushing Oliver.

    12/13: 4.50 miles in 46:53. Average pace was 10:43 min/mi. Tried a new one that cuts through the neighborhood at the end instead of going the full five.

    12/13: 2.75 miles in 25:36. Average pace was 9:25 min/mi. 2nd run of the day and pushed Oliver.

    12/15: 5 miles in 49:35. Average pace was 9:55 min/mi. 

    12/15: 2.75 miles in 27:56. Average pace was 10:12 min/mi. Ran with Oliver.

    12/16: 2.75 miles in 26:24. Average pace was 9:40 min/mi. Pushed Oliver.

    My Week in Running: 11/13/11 - 12/10/11

    I promise that I’ll start updating this at least weekly again soon. I’m finally getting back into the swing of things, so I’m doing better with my Garmin and training logs. I ran my first 5K with a 5 week year old during this time. It was one of my slowest times ever, but I took it slow, and I’m just getting used to pushing a jogging stroller.

    11/13 - Ran a long run of 1:30 hours while pushing Oliver. It was through various streets in the neighborhood. It did get a little warm. No elevation change of any significance.

    11/14 - 4.5 miles in the neighborhood. Finished in 47:56 with a pace of 10:07 moving. 35 feet of elevation gain.

    11/15 - 3.5 miles in 35:39 for a pace of 10:35 min/mile. Ran on the streets.

    11/17 - 5.5 miles in 50:56 with a 9:32 min/mile pace. 24 feet of elevation gain. Tried out a new course that I like quite a bit. Can also make it 5 very easily.

    11/19 - 3.25 miles on a new course. Garmin shut off in the middle of it.

    11/20 - 3.25 miles in 28:36 with a 9:13 min/mile pace. A low 12 feet of elevation gain.

    11/23 - 3.25 miles in 28:56 with a  8:48 min/mile pace. 20 feet of elevation gain.

    11/24 - 3.25 miles in 30:30 with a 9:20 min/mile pace. Ran this Thanksgiving morning run with Greg.

    11/26 - 2 miles in 17:04 with a 9:44 min/mile pace. Ran this evening with Hank.

    11/28 - 5.25 miles in 52:28 with a 9:48 min/mi pace. 31 feet of elevation gain.

    11/29 - 2.75 miles in 24:12 with a 8:49 min/mi pace. Ran this one strong.

    12/1 - 3.25 miles in 29:54 with a 9:21 min/mi pace. Felt good.

    12/2 - 3 miles in 24:25 with a 8:50 min/mi pace. Trying out a little more speed in this one.

    12/4 - 6 miles at HSP in 1 hour. Didn’t find the guys out there. Ran without a Garmin.

    12/4 - Sunday Night 5K. Pushed Oliver in this race and finished in 28:05. Quite a slow 5K but I’m still getting used to pushing a stroller while running.

    12/5 - 5 miles in 51:25 with a 10:16 min/mi pace. 

    12/6 - 3.5 miles in 35:47 with a 10:09 min/mi pace.

    12/7 - 5 miles in 46:49 with a 9:21 min/mi pace. Ran this one strong.

    12/9 - 5 miles in 49:16 with a 9:54 min/mi pace.

    My Week in Running: 10/22/11 - 11/12/11

    Alright it is a little over a week but my newborn sort of slowed my training. You can see the gap in runs.

    10/23 - 9 miles in 1:28:46. Average pace 9:46. Ran with others at Jones State Park.

    10/25 - 2.5 miles in 27:26. Average pace 11:39. Daniels 30 minutes at easy pace.

    10/26 -  3 miles in 29:18. Average pace 9:46. Daniels 30 minute easy pace.

    10/27 - 6 miles at HSP in 1:02:01. Average pace 10:29. 286 feet of elevation gain.

    11/2 - 3.3 miles in 30:04. Average pace 9:06.

    11/6 - Sunday Night 5K finished 2nd in 25:15. Average pace 8:13.

    11/7 - 3.5 miles in 37:55 in neighborhood. Average pace 10:48.

    11/9 - 2.7 miles in 27:31 in neighborhood. Average pace 10:11. Ran with Oliver.

    11/11 - 3.4 miles in 33:12 in neighborhood. Average pace 9:47.

    My Week in Running: 10/15/11 - 10/21/11

    10/15 - Long run. 12 miles in 2:23:45 with an average pace of 11:41. Went out to HSP to run around 15 miles on the trails. Took a couple of cuts around the end because I knew I was going to run into some time issues.

    10/16 - 30 minute easy run. Ran 3 miles with an average pace of 10:14. Ran in the neighborhood.

    10/17 - 30 minute easy run. Ran 2.5 miles in 22:53 with a pace of 9:54. Ran at HSP with Phillip.

    10/18 - 4 miles at HSP with the fast group. Finished in 35:35 with a pace of 8:44 min/mi. Felt pretty good.

    10/19 - 3 miles on the track. Didn’t really time it but it was close to my pace times for slow pace.

    10/20 - 6.5 miles on the road. Ran the half marathon course to get it set up for Saturday’s race.

    10/21 - Daniel’s 30 Minutes Easy. Ran with Hank. 3 miles in 32:28 with a 11:58 min/mi pace.

    I certainly had some good runs in this week. My long run was almost right on target as far as the time. Had a couple days where the running was slower than it should have been, but I also had some really strong runs.

    Week in Running: 10/8/11-10/14/11

    10/8 - 7 miles on trails at HSP in 1:18:02. 284 feet of elevation. Average pace 11:30. This was supposed to be my long run. A little too hot and humid for 2:30 hours, so I dropped out after one loop.

    10/9 - 4 miles on trails at HSP in 42:11. 241 feet of elevation. Average pace 10:36. Wanted to run 7 miles with the others but got a flat tire. Ran course backwards to catch the other runners at the end of the their run.

    10/10 - 30 minute run. 2.75 miles with a pace of 10:11. Daniels training run. Ran in Pearland.

    10/11 - 30 minute run with 5 strides at end. 2.8 miles with a pace of 10:26. Ran in Pearland.

    10/12 - 30 minute run on trails at HSP. 2.9 miles with a pace of 10:20. Ran alone.

    10/13 - 4 miles on trails at HSP in 36:10. 90 feet of elevation. Average pace 8:55. Ran with Phillip and Craig. Phillip cranked the pace after a few miles.

    Not the best week of training. The long run should have been nearly twice as long and hopefully twice as far. Had one day of strides. Need a couple more. Felt good on the 13th.

    Week in Running: 10/1/11-10/7/11

    10/1 - 3 miles at the easy pace. Average pace 10:13.

    10/2 - Sunday Night 5K in 25:15.

    10/3 - 4.25 miles on the trails at HSP. Ran 30 minutes at what was supposed to be an easy pace. Ended up going more like 9:30 instead of 10:23. Felt good today.

    10/4 - 3 miles on the trails at HSP. Ran it at a 10:10 pace.

    10/5 - 3 miles. Didn’t think I’d make it back to work after a court docket. But I made it so I stopped and bought some gear and ran a 3 miles. Caught up with Phillip and turned around to come back with him. No time.

    10/6 - 3.25 miles at HSP in 31:51. Ran with Phillip and Jacob. Tried to find new trails but weren’t successful. Average pace was 9:38.

    This was the end of the 3rd week of running. Next week starts the long runs and then in a few more weeks there will be some speed work mixed in. Too bad it’s still so hot and humid around here. I was hoping some of these 90 degree days would be gone.

    End of Week 2 Training

    29th: 3 miles at the park. Ran it pretty fast but didn’t time it. I wasn’t sticking to the 10:23 easy pace.

    30th: 30 minutes easy pace. Ran 2.65 miles at a 11:20 pace. Then cooled down run to get home. Ran this one with my dog who wasn’t too helpful.

    Many Runs to Update

    Alright so it’s been nothing but hot and humid here in Houston. And I’ve been doing nothing but the 30 minutes at an easy pace Daniel’s training runs. I skipped one run this weekend because my mother was in town. Other than that I’ve been running. Let’s see how it panned out.

    9/25/11 - Sunday morning run. 3 miles total. 2.82 was in 30 minutes at 10:38 min/mile. After the 30 minutes were up I jogged back home.

    9/26/11- Monday afternoon. 3 miles total. 2.57 in 30 minutes at a 11:41 min/mile. This was a pace well outside of the boundary, but I had stopped to give a guy directions at the end. Finished with a warm down back to the car.

    9/27/11 - Tuesday afternoon. 3 miles total. Ran it at a 10:17 min/mile pace which was close to being spot on the 10:23. Felt like a good run.

    9/28/11 2.5 miles with a 12:46 min/mile pace which was awful. Felt bad towards the beginning and it only got worse. Sometimes I just have a bad day. This was one.
